Blog Tour: Filthy Rich by Raine Miller [Review + Giveaway]

Are you ready for Caleb Blackstone?
Filthy Rich by Raine Miller is NOW AVAILABLE! #BlackstoneDynasty

Blurb
Billionaire Caleb Blackstone lives in the glamorous world of wealth and success, with every material luxury. But the moment he sees Brooke Casterley, none of that matters. Caleb is filled with a raw, undeniable need that he can’t ignore…for a girl who is so completely different from everything and everyone he’s ever known.

Only Brooke isn’t looking for love. She knows all too well just how much damage the wrong guy can do. Still, what sane, broke British girl can resist the charms of an incredibly sexy, chivalrous billionaire? What starts as flirtation quickly turns into all-consuming passion. Nothing could have prepared her for the searing heat of Caleb’s touch—or just how much she craves him.

Their whirlwind romance is the stuff of high-society fantasy—but for every moment of pleasure, there is a cost. Past mistakes and tragedy shadow them both…and falling for him might be the kind of trouble she can’t afford.
Excerpt
I would give this thing two drinks max before I was outie.
Nodding and saying the right things, I shook hands with the colleagues who’d known my father and accepted condolences from others. I made a mental note of the people who’d made the effort to mention his name to me, and I would write them down with the event and date as soon as I got home.
I’d worked my way through the room, as I had been taught by my dad—by the best to ever work a roomful of potential deals—when I decided I’d accomplished what I’d set out to do tonight. It was time for me to go. After setting my glass down on an empty table, I started for the door . . . until I saw her.
Just like that. She appeared in my line of sight and I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
The beautiful girl from this morning at the Starbucks on Hereford Street.
I knew it was her because how could anyone forget those sexy boots? Her blonde hair wasn’t down like it had been this morning, though. She’d pulled it back into a sleek ponytail . . . but she was serving at this event? I’d seen her go into that design studio next to Starbucks. She probably had two jobs. Industrious . . . beautiful . . . sexy.
I quickly returned for my half-empty glass and snatched it up from the table. I suddenly felt like an appetizer or two.
She saw me approaching and moved closer with her tray. “What are these called?” I asked without sparing her tray a second glance. Bad move on my part, but I was too busy taking in her golden eyes and hair, and everything else I could now see up close. Perfect skin, dark lashes that framed spectacular eyes, and a scar along the hairline of the right side of her face. Something had hurt her at some point in the past, and I found it utterly insane that I was disturbed by it.
She rolled her pink lips together as if she was trying to suppress laughter. “Well, they’ve told me it’s something called a . . . meatball. Very unusual gourmet creation. You should try one. They’re said to be quite delicious.”
That voice of hers was . . . fucking beautiful.
“Okay.” I picked up a meatball and popped it in my mouth. Didn’t taste a thing. I could have been chewing slaughterhouse by-products and I wouldn’t have known. My brain had shut off everything except her beautiful voice.
“You are either messing with me or that blow to your head must have been devastating. I would wager you’ve had a meatball before.”
“I am.”
She lost her smile. “You are messing with me?”
“No, I am devastating—I mean devastated—by the blow to my head.” What in the mother fuck was I even saying to this girl? I sounded like Rain Man minus the IQ. I needed to stop talking.
“I’m sorry to hear that. It looks painful.”
“It doesn’t hurt me now.” I think I smiled and shook my head but couldn’t be sure. Just call me the village idiot because I knew I was acting like one. I did love the sound of her voice, though.
“Another rare and precious meatball?” She offered her tray and studied me this time. She had to be disgusted by my appearance and turned off by my behavior, but she didn’t show it if she was.
“Yes, please.” I took another meatball but I didn’t eat it. “You are British.”
“You are American,” she said with a fast wink, before turning away to serve other guests.
I watched her walk away from me and felt the pounding of my heart vibrating throughout my entire body.
Something had just happened to me.
I wasn’t completely sure what exactly, but I was crystal clear on the reason.
Her.

My Rating:   (5 emotionally rich Stars)
Filthy Rich is rich with emotions, romance and swoon-worthy moments. The story is very engaging and I pretty much can't stop myself from continuously scrolling through the pages till the end.

Caleb Blackstone is one DREAMY hero and I just love him! I especially love his awesome stalking skills when he first met Brooke lol he is so freaking adorable. And I dig the way how he automatically set his eyes on her from the early beginning like he knows he finally meet THE ONE. I am also liking how Caleb is so caring towards her knowing her past and he is just so dang perfect!

Brooke Casterly is a stunning heroine and her character is portrayed as witty and feisty in the sense where she wouldn't let anyone bully her anymore because she have been hurt deeply before. She had a terrible things happened to her not too long ago and so she is a bit hesitant to let herself fall in love with Caleb. But I like that Caleb relentlessly pursued her with his charms and I definitely root for him to be with Brooke.

So basically, I love this book and I enjoyed reading Caleb and Brooke's story but mostly I am hooked with Caleb's charming personality. He is so sweet to Brooke and his love towards her is making me swooning a lot. Sigh. Anyway, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Filthy Rich for romance readers who love contemporary love stories and fancy a dreamy and hot billionaire as the male lead character.

Review: Beard Science by Penny Reid [With Giveaway]

Beard Science

by Penny Reid Winston Brothers #3
Publication Date: October 11, 2016
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Humor, Romance

Make a deal with the devil and you might get what you want, but will it be what you need?
Jennifer Sylvester wants one thing, and that one thing is NOT to be Tennessee’s reigning Banana Cake Queen. Ever the perpetual good girl and obedient daughter, Jennifer is buckling under the weight of her social media celebrity, her mother’s ambitions, and her father’s puritanical mandates. Jennifer is officially desperate. And desperate times call for Cletus Winston. Cletus Winston is a puzzle wrapped in a mystery covered in conundrum sauce, and now he’s in a pickle. Despite being convinced of his own omniscience, extortion by the exalted Banana Cake Queen of Green Valley has taken him completely by surprise. So… what’s a maniacal mastermind to do? Likely, the last thing you expect. ‘Beard Science’ is the third book in the Winston Brothers series, is a full-length romantic comedy novel, and can be read as a standalone.

EXCERPT

“I saw what you did.”

“You saw what I did.” He repeated flatly, apparently bored with me and the conversation. His eyes were on the rear-view mirror.

But I would not be ignored. Not this time.

Gathering every ounce of courage within me, I blurted, “I saw what you did, last week, with the Iron Wraiths evidence. You took it. And now they can’t find it, and now they’re dropping the case against Razor.”

Finally, Cletus looked at me. To my astonishment, his typically green eyes had become a fiery blue and he snapped, “You saw no such thing.”

“I did." I nodded at my assertion. "In fact, I have a video of you doing it.”

He blinked. His expression and his voice, usually so controlled, both cracked with surprise. “You did what?”

“I recorded it, on my phone.” I swallowed three times for no reason.

His gaze sharpened in such a way that startled me, as though clouds or an illusionary mist parted and revealed a slight glimpse of the real Cletus Winston beneath. These new eyes flickered over my person.

“Prove it.” His demand was sharp and quick, like a whip, and made my heart jump to my throat.

I pulled my phone from my purse with trembling fingers. I knew why I was shaking. I wasn’t used to confrontation. I was a natural pacifist, preferring peace to sass. But desperate times called for desperate measures.

He snatched my cell once I’d unlocked it and tapped through the series of screens until he reached my videos. He found the one dated last week, the one I’d taken of Sheriff James talking about my banana cake and hit play. As Cletus watched, a touch of color drained from his cheeks. He was seeing what I’d spotted last week when I reviewed the recording. One half of the screen was the sheriff. The other half of the screen was Cletus in the background, pocketing the evidence, looking around, then walking away.

Cletus made a strangled noise that sounded both frustrated and enraged. I eyed the door next to me, considering and immediately dismissing an escape. Meanwhile, he watched the recording again. When it ended for a second time, silence took its place, hard and heavy between us. I examined his profile, endeavoring to parse his thoughts.

Cletus’ expression was blank, which—I abruptly realized—was highly unusual. He always wore an expression. Thoughtful, concerned, patient, bored, interested, somber, perturbed. How odd, for a person to always have an expression . . . unless that person wore emotions like a mask, meant to misdirect the true nature of his thoughts.

“You made a copy?” His tone, laden with ice and granite, made me shiver.

He didn’t sound at all like the bumbling but affable Cletus Winston I’d known since forever. He sounded . . . dangerous.

I needed to clear my throat before I could speak. “I did. I made a few. Saved in a few places.”

The side of his mouth ticked up, but his eyes lacked humor as he turned them back to me. “That was smart. Otherwise I would have smashed your phone into a quantity of tiny pieces. Then it would have been your word against mine.”

“That’s right,” I said the words on a breath, the good sense of fear wrestling with determination.

But, damn it, I need his help! And it had to be him. It just had to. He could make anything happen. Everyone in town and the surrounding areas owed him a favor. I'd heard the rumors. I'd paid attention. I'd put the puzzle pieces together.

And now I had the most powerful man in east Tennessee right where I needed him.

About Penny Reid

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing). By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

My Rating: ❤ 5 Cletus & Jenn Stars!
Beard Science is one delicious read and it have the perfect romance, humor and a very refreshing story line ever. Definitely a must read!

So, I haven't read any other book in Winston series because I'm an idiot and thus I pretty much go in the blind reading this book. And my oh my! It is so dang good and I love it so much.

First of all, I must say that out of all the heroes that I've read so far I think Cletus Winston was among the unique ilk and rarest type of breed because he was that different. I mean, he has ridiculously attractive beard and hair and he loves cakes especially one with blueberry flavor. He is good in making sausage and Italian food and he wasn't really a commitment phobic kind of guy as he seems to always recognized a woman that he found attractive and well-suited with him as The One but yet he doesn't want babies in his future. It was also really interesting that he has such a strong fixation problem and like to be in control of everything. With all those traits combines, I believe I have never met such an intriguing character as Cletus before.

Jennifer Sylvester or Jenn was described as a very talented baker who works for her mother's bakery and pretty much follows everything that her mother asked her to do. She was also a very socially awkward person but at the same time she was really adorable and I like that when she is being invisible, she became an excellent people observer. Although Jenn may came across as a pushover, I enjoyed her journey developing a backbone and I really love it when she blackmailed Cletus! It shows that deep inside she has a strong spirit and I rooted for her to finally stand on her own two feet.

(or in other words, Things That I Love About The Book)
1. There was a scene where Cletus hadn't seen Jenn in a week and the absence was making him crazy and thus this monologue of him came out. I knew he was super frustrated but it was really funny!
Absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder. Whoever said that was a damn fool. Absence makes the heart suicidal. Take my heart for example. It hadn't stopped hurling itself against my ribs-at odd times, day or night-for a week.
2. I love how the author made the declaration of I love you around 70% in the story and managed to brilliantly keep up the pace interesting. This is because I usually found the declaration phase way too late towards the end and then I only get limited time to savor in the happy times. So, I was happy that phase came early in Beard Science and get enough happy times for the lead couple.

3. The ending is just so sweet and awesome and I like it so much. I specifically dig the spontaneous proposal and I think it was very real and perfect for Cletus and Jenn. I wish there would be an actual wedding taking place though because I'm a hopeless romantic but then it would be too soon so I think I am satisfied with that.

That being said, I am absolutely and definitely recommending Beard Science to all the romance readers because the author's writing is impeccable as you would find yourself chuckling and giggling at things that you wouldn't expected and you totally need Cletus and Jenn in your life. This book is seriously a  must read and a keeper!

About Fling:
I have a crush on my boss’ best friend. At least it’s not my brother’s best friend. Or my best friend’s brother. Or… never mind. It’s all pretty cliche.   And worse? My boss’ best friend is his business partner. Which sort of makes him my boss too. Okay - it’s not sort of. It’s definite. Gabe Laurent is off limits. Totally off limits.   Which is fine. I make do with my imagination. He’ll never know. Ever. Unless my work bestie passes me an eighties-style teen movie sex quiz during a meeting and I fill it out.   And it ends up in Gabe’s hands…

Exclusive Excerpt:
"What do you think of Sandra?" I ask Sawyer as I snag a signed baseball from a display case along the far wall of his office. I settle into one of the guest chairs across his desk and toss the ball over my head before catching it again. He's reviewing something on his monitor and he pauses at my question and turns his attention to me.
"You know she's the best executive assistant I've ever had. Do you need her help with something? I thought you were happy with Preston?"
Somehow human resources only assigns me gay men or women old enough to have birthed me. I suspect that's on direct orders from Sawyer. Dick. I give the ball another toss and catch.
"No, I meant, what do you think of Sandra as a woman?"
"I don't," Sawyer says, narrowing his eyes at me.
"She's got a thing for me," I say.
"She doesn't," Sawyer says dismissively and taps the mouse on his desk, intent on ignoring me.
"She does," I insist. "She's always looking at me."
"Maybe she thinks you're an idiot."
That's a distinct possibility. I've never been quite sure. Most of the time she ducks her head and calls me Mr. Laurent as she scurries past. It fucking turns me on, but I'm not sure if it turns her on or if she honestly just thinks I'm an asshole.
"I think she's dating someone in marketing," Sawyer adds while tapping on his keyboard, engrossed with whatever's on the screen in front of him.
"They broke up over the summer," I say confidently, leaning back in the chair and tossing the ball a little further in the air.
"How do you know that?"
Sawyer stops typing and crosses his arms across his chest. He doesn't look pleased with my knowledge of Sandra's dating life; I think he views her like the little sister he never had.
"What could you possibly want to do with Sandra anyway?"
I catch the ball as my brows raise in disbelief. "You need me to spell it out for you, buddy?" I lean forward in the chair and adopt a serious tone. "Sometimes, when two people are attracted to each other, they enjoy taking their clothing off together so they can—"
"Shut up," Sawyer interrupts. "She's not really your type."
"Beautiful?" I question.
"Sweet," he replies.
She is sweet, he's right about that. I think about the paper burning a hole in my pocket and wonder again if it was hers. I'd like it to be hers. I think sweet Sandra has a hidden dirty side, and I'd really like to uncover it.

REVIEW:
My Rating: ❤ 4 Sexy and Sweet Surveys Stars
Fling is a short but sweet and sexy reads that will makes you swoon with the romance and fanning yourself with its sexy scenes.

It is basically an office romance but a damn good one at that. I don't normally read office romance but since I love the author's work from previous book so much I thought I would give this a try. And I'm glad that I signed up for this because although it is a novella, you can definitely still enjoy the book.

I like how the story starts with Sandra being secretly obsessed with Gabe and it reminds me of how silly we can be when we have huge crush on someone. I mean like her, I would also have my-radar-crush on so wherever my crush goes my eyes will automatically set on him. Sort of being a stalker but not in the harmful way. I like that I got to enjoyed that feeling again with Sandra. And I think Sandra Adams is  really a sweet heroine because although she is a little on the shy side, the author managed to captured that as her strong point and makes her attractive and lovable.

Gabe Laurent is the CFO of a multibillion-dollar corporation that he own portions of it which means that he is rich and smart. And he sometimes wears thick-rimmed glasses that made him looks adorably nerdish like Clark Kent. I like that at first he is unsure whether Sandra likes him or hates him but he can't deny his attraction to her. I also love his struggle to avoid from feeling too attached to Sandra but failed miserably. Specifically I like how Gabe tries to maintain  being professional at work when they are an item by calling Sandra "Miss Adams"  lol. He is so cute!

I also love the way Everly and Sawyer's characters are being brilliantly incorporated in this story and I know Everly was outrageous and hilarious from the previous book so it is an absolute delight that she still have her crazy ways in this story.

Overall I think that Fling is a great choice if you are craving to read something short but have a happy ending with sweet and sexy romance. Furthermore, it is not heavy on the angst at all so it is pretty much a light-hearted love story. And you would definitely love the ending because it is super duper sweet and cool!

Review: One Step Closer by Kahlen Aymes [With Giveaway]

 The only had each other…
Until one forbidden night ruined everything.

This new sexy stand-alone STEPBROTHER is
NOW AVAILABLE.

Blurb
STEPSISTER. He hated that f*cking word.

When their parents got married, the only thing Caleb Luxan had in common with Wren Brashill was that they both hated their parents. When he was sixteen, Caleb discovered Wren's closely guarded secret and vowed to protect her: from that day forward she became the reason for every decision he made.

Jealousy and long-suppressed desire overpowered Caleb's fierce protectiveness and they spent one forbidden and unforgettable night in each other arms, but the aftermath left Caleb panicked, Wren heartbroken, and their relationship in shambles. In the time since that fateful night, he’d only seen her once and had only managed to make the situation even worse.

The sudden death of his estranged father calls Caleb home and face-to-face with Wren for first time in years. He is presented with a choice that forces him to confront the painful memories of his youth and his many regrets with Wren.

Like it or not, his father's last, hard lesson, will demand Caleb deal with his long denied emotions for Wren, or let go of her forever.

 teaser1

Excerpt
Caleb’s muscled frame was rigid and as Wren looked at him, she studied his profile, and could feel his coiled tension.  The fingers in his right hand curled into a fist.  “I was so mad.  So many times, I wished he’d been the one to die.”  His voice was full of pain, as the words tore from him.  “I fucking hated him with every breath I took.  You saw how much.”
Wren nodded, though he didn’t see her acquiescence.  She knew what he went through growing up when they had formed an affable alliance against their parents.  She hated her mother at least as much as Caleb hated his father and she understood his anger and pain; then the apathy that became a welcome alternative.  They’d been unlikely allies against a common enemy.
“Maybe I deserved his indifference.”
Wren got up and went to Caleb, standing behind him as he stood still as stone, and staring out the window.  Her heart ached with love and grief for Caleb. She wanted to touch him; to offer reassurance, to take away the ache in his voice and heart.  Without considering her actions, her arms slipped around his waist and she pressed up against his strong back and leaned her head against him, between his shoulder blades.
Caleb was massive in comparison to her, and she was like a flower curling around him.  Her hands fanned out against his hard stomach, her fingers finding the definition of his abs beneath his shirt.   “Stop, Cale.  I won’t let you do this to yourself.  Your dad wouldn’t want that.  None of it was your fault.”  Her arms slid fully around him and held him tight against her body. “I can’t bear it.  You’ve had enough pain.  Enough.”
Caleb sucked in a deep breath, the action bringing her even closer.  He could feel every curve of her body pressed so closely against his back.  He could feel her breathing, could feel how she shared his pain.  His hand came up and he ran the flat of his hand from her elbow down to her hand, and then wrapped his fingers around hers.
“When did you turn into the strong one?”
Wren’s arms tightened around him.  “When I met you. ”
“Oh, Wren.” Should he just spill his guts? Would it fix everything?  “I’ve got so much to say to you.  How long can you stay?”
She nodded against him, unwilling to end the contact between their bodies; needing the closeness as much as he did.
He wanted to apologize for how he acted the last time he’d seen her, he wanted to say a hundred things… he needed her forgiveness.
“How long do you need me?”
In that moment a miracle happened; a sort of beautiful irony that taunted Caleb with it’s fragileness.  It was as if he’d never screwed everything up between them.  But would it stay this way?
How long do I need you? Caleb thought.  His heart raced to the point of exploding, and he wondered if Wren could feel it.
Forever.

REVIEW
My Rating:  (4 Superman Stars)
One Step Closer is one sexy read between stepbrother dearest and his stepsister from different father and different mother.

I have read several step-siblings stories before but this one feels a bit different. I like that in this story the hero and heroine have a strong connection and their bond is thicker than blood. It is the kind of story that I'm crazy about and I'm happy that the story really delivered.

Caleb Luxon or Caleb or affectionately call as Cale by Wren is an engineer and a boxer but he is also the heir of Luxon Pharmaceuticals. He has quite a complex character as he is pretty much a headstrong and doesn't really filter his words but when it comes to Wren, he becomes her protector, her knight in shining armor, her own Superman. Even though he seems to be so tough and strong, I like that Caleb can be gentle and warm as well especially towards Wren and Jonesy.

Wren Brashill or Wren is a talented ballerina and she was Caleb's stepsister and she has a very cruel mother. I suspect her mother is a psychopath and it is beyond me why Caleb's dad choose that woman to be his stepmom. I like that Caleb really stood up and protect Wren from Veronica because I don't think one should ever deserved to have a mother like her.

I must say that I was really entertained when reading this book because Caleb and Wren are really destined to be together after all the things that they went through. But I think I would be more entertained if a certain evil character named Macy does not have much scenes. Macy is the woman whom Caleb is seeing casually and I really really can't stand her. I mentally cursed her character every time her name appears because she was so annoying, manipulative and downright insensitive so I guess I cursed a lot.

Anyway, besides Veronica and Macy, I'm truly happy reading this book and I was really invested in Caleb and Wren. I am also absolutely loving the epilogue because after all that scheming and evil plotting I finally got to indulge in the happy scenes and I feel super satisfied and super happy for our main leads.

So, I am going to recommend One Step Closer to romance readers who love step-siblings theme and like a hero who has fierce protective trait, a bit angsty and  has superb sexy scenes.
